• The Empire Arts Center of downtown Grand Forks is having a “Family Day” on Saturday, July 18th, from 10 am to 12 noon. The day is to help celebrate Empire Theatre Company’s upcoming musical, Into the Woods. Children of all ages are invited to meet some of their favorite storybook characters, participate in games and crafts, and enjoy a sneak peek performance by the cast of Into the Woods. Admission is free.

• The North Dakota Museum of Arts’ 2015 Summer Concerts in the “Garden Series” continues on Tuesday, July 21st. Live music begins at 6 pm with headline performer Lydia Loveless on stage at 7 pm. The NDMOA is located on the UND campus in Grand Forks.

• The Summer Performing Arts of Grand Forks present “Once on this Island” at Red River High School in Grand Forks. Performances dates are July 24th through the 28th. Curtain time is 7 pm with a Sunday matinee at 2 pm.

• Always Lost: A Meditation on War art exhibit is now open to the public on the Northland East Grand Forks campus. The art exhibition is in the commons area of the campus until July 22nd.

• The Lake of the Woods County Fair runs this weekend through Sunday in Baudette, MN.

• The Pennington County Fair runs through this weekend as well, in Thief River Falls.

• Drayton, North Dakota’s “RiverFest” is July 16th through the 19th.

• The Roseau County Fair is scheduled for July 19th through the 24th in Roseau, MN.

• The Thief River Area Community Summer Theater presents “The Nerd” at the Northland Theater, July 20th through the 23rd. Curtain time is 7 pm.

• The Marshall County Fair in Warren, MN runs July 22nd through the 26th.

• The “Iron Man Car Show” is this weekend in Chisholm, MN.

• And the 80th Annual “Northwest Water Carnival” runs Friday through Sunday, this weekend, in Detroit Lakes, MN.

Cinderella: A Musical Performance” will be on stage at the Empire Arts Center in downtown Grand Forks on Friday, June 26th. Curtain time is 7:00 pm.

• The 120th Norman County Fair is on now and runs through Sunday, June the 28th in Ada, MN.

• Two art exhibits, one called “Armando Ramos: Something Absurd” and the other exhibit titles “Jill Brody: Hidden in Plain Sight” are now on display at the North Dakota Museum of Art in Grand Forks. The NDMOA is located on the UND campus.

• The Greater Grand Forks Fair runs through Sunday, June 28th.

• On stage at the Fire Hall Theater of downtown Grand Forks – “A Mid-Summer Night’s Dream.” Curtain time on Saturday, June 27th is 7:00 pm, with a Sunday matinee at 2:00 pm on June 28th.

• The summer music series “Blues on the Red” continues this weekend in downtown Grand Forks. Performing on stage from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm on Saturday, June 27th are Ken Valdez and Becky Barksdale.

• The North Dakota Museum of Art kicks off their 2015 Summer Concerts in the Garden Series on Tuesday, June 30th. Featured will be Minneapolis musician and singer Erik Koskinen. Live music starts at 6:00 pm.

• The 122nd Pembina County Fair runs July 9th through July 11th in Hamilton, ND.

• The Polk County Fair, in Fertile, MN will run July 8th through July 12th.

• The Goodridge Centennial Celebration is coming up, July 3rd through the 5th in Goodridge, MN. Events include a parade, family & Children’s events, food and live music.

• Friday, June 19th, a performance of “Beauty and The Beast” will be performed by the Prairie Fire Children’s Theatre. Curtain time is 7:00 pm, at the Tri County School in Karlstad, MN.

• This Saturday afternoon, June 20th is the 8th Annual Art and Wine Walk in downtown East Grand Forks and Grand Forks. The adult event will be held from 1 to 5 pm.

• A free movie is being shown at the Grand Forks Public Library on Saturday, June 20th beginning at 2:00 pm. The movie is: Strange Magic, rated PG. The public is welcome to attend.

• The Northwest Minnesota Arts Council is hosting a writer’s workshop at the Campbell Public Library of East Grand Forks on Saturday, June 20th. The workshop begins at 10:00 am and features many authors from across Minnesota. A reception for the authors will also be held on Saturday afternoon, beginning at 1:00 pm at the RiverWalk Artists Gallery and Shop in downtown East Grand Forks. The public is welcome to attend.

• The annual “Polish Day” celebration is Sunday, June 21st in Florian, MN – east of Stephen, MN. The day begins with a Polka Mass at 10:30am. Scheduled events include a traditional Polish Dinner, Polish dancers and many other events throughout the afternoon.

• The Turtle River State Park – west of Grand Forks – is hosting a nature walk on Sunday morning, June 21st from 10 to 11:30 am. The program is free, however all vehicles entering the park will require either a $5.00 daily vehicle pass or an annual pass of $25.00.

• The Grand Forks Parks department will be showing a free outdoor movie on Wednesday, June 24th. The movie, “Malificent” starts at sunset in University Park, near UND.

• “Cinderella: A Musical Performance” will be on stage at the Empire Arts Center in downtown Grand Forks on Friday, June 26th. Curtain time is 7:00 pm.

• The 120th Norman County Fair runs June 24th through the 27th in Ada, MN.

• Kick’n up Kountry runs through Saturday, June 13th in Karlstad, MN. Featured on stage will be country music legends and other top name performers.

• Saturday, June 13th is the first annual “Art Festival” in Roseau, MN from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm in the Roseau City Center. Also featured will be “Another Man’s Treasure II/Junk Event”, that’s at the Roseau County Fairgrounds from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. A “Farmers Market” will also be available from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm in Roseau.

• The Minnesota Historical Society will open an exhibition on Monday, June 15th at the Kittson County Museum in Lake Bronson, MN. The exhibit is called “Uncle Sam’s New Deal” And will be open to the public through July 19th. Exhibition hours are Monday through Friday from 9 to 5 and weekends from 1pm to 5pm.

• A “Homeless Veterans Art Exhibit” is now open at the Stephen Community Center in Stephen, MN. Hours are from 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Friday, Saturday and Sunday – June 12th, 13th and 14th. The art exhibit is sponsored by the Veterans Resource Group. The event is free, however donations will be accepted.

• National “Get Outdoors Day” is being observed at the Lake Bronson State Park in northwest Minnesota. FREE Admission is Saturday, June 13th to all MN State Parks. Goodies will be served at the visitor center from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Lake Bronson State Park, Lake Bronson, MN.

• Final performances of the “Dixie Swim Club” are this weekend at the Fire Hall Theater in downtown Grand Forks. Curtain time is 7:00 pm Friday and Saturday.

• The 2015 “Grand Cities Art Fest” is this Saturday and Sunday, June 13th and 14th in downtown Grand Forks. Over 120 quality artists and crafters will be involved in this year’s event.

• Irving Berlin’s “Annie Get Your Gun” is on-stage at the Empire Arts Center in downtown Grand Forks, on Friday, June 12th. Performance time is 7:00 pm.

• There’s an open house this weekend – on Saturday – at the Split Rock Lighthouse on the shores of Lake Superior, at Two Harbors, MN.
