It’s Spring Pledge Week!

Call in your pledge at (218) 683-8587, or mail pledges to: Pioneer 90.1 Pledge Drive, 1101 Hwy One East, Thief River Falls, MN 56701.

To pledge by credit or debit card, follow this link to the Northland Community & Technical College Foundation’s site. Select KSRQ Pioneer 90.1 under “donation intent.”

Pioneer 90.1 is a non-commercial station. We rely on listener support to continue our operation. About 13 percent of Pioneer 90.1’s budget is covered by Northland’s general fund.

Proceeds from the pledge drive help Pioneer 90.1 cover operating expenses like tower rent, electricity, web streaming, equipment repair, engineering, and syndicated program fees.

We are extremely grateful to the businesses and listeners who care enough about the station to support it with a contribution.

Since adopting a community focus and new format over ten years ago, Pioneer 90.1 has developed several popular volunteer-hosted programs including Cathy’s Variety Show with Cathy Erickson, Northern Classics with Philip McKenzie, Jazz and Stuff with Pat Ledin-Dunning, Minnesota Homebrew with Carl Unbehaun, and Metal Bootcamp with David “Burns” Chrzanowski.

Station manager Mark Johnson and staffers Chris Cuppett, Ron West and Glen Braget also produce several hours of live programming each week, focused on community interviews and adult-oriented alternative music. We try to make our daytime music mix light enough to have on in the workplace, with an emphasis on new music discovery.

We have a deep appreciation for the classics, so you’ll hear some well-known tunes. But we also love it when we hear from listeners who say they’ve found a favorite new artist that they would never have heard if it wasn’t for our station.
