Northwest Minnesota Arts Council Update Featuring Former Minnesota North Stars hockey player Henry Boucha June 16, 2015

Featured Programs,Northwest MN Arts Council by GlenBraget on June 17, 2015

“Growing up in Warroad, Minnesota, Henry Boucha became an Olympic and NHL hockey star.
He was an Olympic hockey standout in the early 1970’s and played six seasons in the National Hockey League; for the Detroit Red Wings, Minnesota North Stars, Kansas City Scouts and Colorado Rockies. Henry’s promising hockey career was tragically brief, cut short by an eye injury that forced him to hang up his skates at the age of 25. However, his impact on the game continues to this day, thanks to his work with an NHL/USA Hockey Diversity Task Force Program and the National Coalition against Racism in Sports and Media.
He has written a compelling autobiography called “Henry Boucha, Ojibwa, Native American Olympian”, the true life story of Boucha and how his Chippewa Ojibwa roots have helped him persevere through challenges and tragedies, to become a leader in raising awareness about Native American athletes today.”
