The event was part of the community’s celebration of Norwegian Heritage Week. About fifty percent of Thief River Falls residents are of Norwegian descent, making the community one of the United States’ most Norwegian cities.

The Arnstein Killingberg Orchestra began performing in the 1930’s, founded by Arnstein’s father, Asbjorn. Today, the orchestra includes third and fourth generation performers. Grete Killingberg is a four-time National Master Champion of the Norwegian Small Accordian and is also the Nordic National Champion.

This performance was part of the group’s sixth tour of the U.S. They have visited Canada eight times. The group’s high-spirited music and enthusiastic performances are in demand in Norway, Scandinavia, and Germany.
