
Barb Geer is the director of “Steel Magnolias”, a presentation of the Thief River Falls, MN Community/Arts Theater. She’s also publisher of a weekly newspaper in Middle River, MN called “The Honker.” Barb talks about the theater group’s stage performance, an unexpected alteration of script due to a severe thunderstorm and her work with “The Honker.”

The work of regional artist Trey Everett of Crookston, MN is on display at the Northwest Minnesota Arts Council’s (NWMAC) Gallery and Shop in downtown East Grand Forks, MN. Trey has produced inspirational pen & ink drawings called “holy doodles” – images that came to mind from meditating on books, past events and scripture passages and he discusses those pieces of art. Trey also shares information on an upcoming series of workshops called “Healing through Art”, an effort funded through the NWMAC.

Greenbush, Minnesota native Monique Arnesen directs the Warroad (MN) Sumer Theater production of “Little Shop of Horrors”, at the Warroad High School. Monique shares her thoughts on acting, directing and the vital role of the Northwest Minnesota Arts Council, in support of the fine arts within the region!

Ron West visits with Mara Hannel, Executive Director of the Northwest Minnesota Arts Council (NWMAC), discusses the new fiscal year for the NWMAC, and the first grant application deadline and the process to apply for funding through the NWMAC. Mara also gives details on two activities, funded by the NWMAC, the NWMAC “Art Gallery and Gift Shop” in downtown East Grand Forks, MN and upcoming workshops conducted by Crookston, MN resident Trey Everett called “Healing through Art.”
The NWMAC has also kicked off their “Mini-Art Exhibit”, with stops in Hallock, Thief River Falls, Fosston, Roseau and Warren, Minnesota.
Alexandria, MN native and current Thief River Falls, MN resident Gretchen Weinrich talks about her involvement in theater work, her background in directing and the current production of “The Fantasticks” – now on stage at the Northland Community and Technical College in Thief River Falls. The Thief River Falls Community Theater Director shares her theater story and details of the Broadway show.
