Stwen Thornley on MLB move to MNTwin Cities author Stew Thornley discusses the anniversary of the move by the Washington Senators to Minnesota on October 26, 1960. The newly formed Twins were embraced by sports fans throughout the Upper Midwest.
Then owner Calvin Griffith saw tremendous potential for his franchise as they moved west and established their roots at Metropolitan Stadium in Bloomington. Thornley reflected on Griffith’s decision to move the team and the cultural impact that it’s had in the region for over 50 years!
