Arts Calendar

• A “Rock the Streets” dance will be held this Friday, September 12th at the Town Square in downtown Grand Forks. The event is free and open to public and starts at 8pm. The event is sponsored by JLG Architects.

• A “Mother Goose Storybook Theater” will be held on Saturday, September 13th at the Fire Hall Theater in downtown Grand Forks. Space is limited to 14 children, age’s four to six. It begins Saturday afternoon at 2pm.

• The Greater Grand Forks Community Theater presents “You Have the Right to Remain Dead” a murder mystery. Performances start on Thursday, September 18th at 7:30pm at the Fire Hall Theater in downtown Grand Forks.

• The “Alley Fair” is being held from 11am to 7pm in downtown Fargo, next Saturday, September 20th, with interactive art, live demonstrations and food and live music performances.

  • This weekend in Newfolden, Minnesota, it’s “NewFest”, from Friday, September 5th through Sunday, September 7th.  Events include a parade, live music, carnival, flea market, crafts and more.  “NewFest” is this weekend in Newfolden.

 

  • Family “Fun Day” is this Saturday, September 6th in Argyle, Minnesota at Island Park.  The event runs from 10 am until 2:30, Saturday afternoon.

 

  • “Blast to Brooks” is this Saturday, in Brooks, Minnesota.  Events include live music, a parade and food.

 

  • The “Uff Da Mud Run” is Saturday, September 6th in the Greenway space of downtown East Grand Forks and Grand Forks, near the Sorlie Bridge.  The 5K course will encompass 20 obstacles.

 

  • Professional Bull Riding and Barrel Racing is this Saturday at the Sanford Center in Bemidji.  The doors open at 6:30pm.

 

  • The 5th Annual Fargo “Beer Festival” is Friday, September 5th at the Fargo Civic Center.  Live music will be featured.

 

  • The Northwest Minnesota Arts Council’s “Traveling Art Exhibit” is on display this weekend, both Saturday and Sunday at the Fosston Public Library.  The Traveling Mini Art Exhibit includes original paintings, photography, drawings, pastels, and clay pottery.

 

  • The Northwest Minnesota Arts Council’s exhibit called “Hidden Splendor” is on display this weekend and through September at the council’s gallery in the RiverWalk Center of downtown East Grand Forks.  The exhibit features the work of photographer Chris Lane of Thief River Falls.

The Ada Public Library will host the Share-A-Story Literacy Event on Wednesday, May 28 from 3 to 7 p.m. It’s being held at the Dekko Center in Ada and is free and open to the public. Activities will include arts and crafts, face painting, a scavenger hunt, computer games, entertainment and more.

The Spirit Room will host a reception for three artists at the Avalon Event Center in Fargo on Thursday May 29th from 2 until 4 pm. Works of the artists include; Tara Zolnikov’s “Changing Reality through Imagination,” Will Buchanan, and a work from Grace Clark called “Quiet Observations.”

The Greater Grand Forks Community Theater presents the popular Broadway musical, The Full Monty… coming to the Historic Empire Arts Center in downtown Grand Forks. Co-produced by Mamma Maria’s Italian Restaurant of East Grand Forks, The Full Monty will be performed May 28th through May 31st and curtain time is 7:30.

Irish singer and dancer Daniel O’Donnell will perform at the Chester Fritz Auditorium in Grand Forks, on the UND campus – Thursday, May 29th at 7:00 pm.
The art work of Cindy Kolling of Gully, Minnesota is now on display at the River Walk Artists Gallery in downtown East Grand Forks. The gallery is operated by the Northwest Minnesota Arts Council and is located at the Riverwalk Center.

The musical “Forever Plaid” will be performed by the TRF Community Theater at the Northland College Theater in Thief River, on Tuesday, May 27th, Wednesday, May 28th and Thursday, May 29th. Performance times are 7:00 pm.
