• Sunday April 17th and Wednesday April 20th – “Deir Final Curtain Call” will be performed by the Parish Hall Women, at Sion Lutheran Church of Lancaster, MN. A Dinner begins at 6:00 pm followed by the production on Sunday and Wednesday.

• The Sacred Heart High School Drama Department – will perform the musical “The Little Mermaid” this weekend, Friday April 15th and Saturday April 16th at 7:00 pm, with a Sunday matinee at 2:00 pm in the Sacred Heart School Auditorium in East Grand Forks. Admission is $10 adult, $5 student. Under 5 are free.

• The Empire Theater Company – will be holding 2016-2017 auditions Friday, April 15th and Saturday, April 16th at the Empire Arts Center in downtown Grand Forks. Auditions begin at 6:00 pm each evening and run until 9:00 pm.

• Friday, April 15th – Saturday, April 16th – the stage production of “The Norwegians” will have its final run – this weekend at the Fire Hall Theater in downtown Grand Forks. Show time Friday and Saturday is 7:30pm. The Fire Hall Theater is next to the Grand Forks City Hall.

• Saturday, April 23rd – Minnesota’s second annual Powwow will be held at the Sanford Center in Bemidji, MN. Grand entries are at 1 and 7 PM. This is a free event, presented by Ampers and supported by the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.

• Ongoing – The Campbell Public Library of East Grand Forks presents “Northern Exposure”, a display of photography produced by area and regional photographers.

• April 1st – Opening this weekend at the Fire Hall Theater in downtown Grand Forks, “The Norwegians, described as a bitter comedy. Show times Friday and Saturday evening the 1st and the 2nd are 7:30pm with a 2:00 pm matinee this Sunday, April 3rd. The Fire Hall Theater is next to the Grand Forks City Hall.

• April 2nd – The North Dakota Museum of Art, based on the UND campus in Grand Forks, presents “Family Day” this Saturday, April 2nd from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon. Two hours of fun and creativity for children in producing art. Children of all ages and their care-givers are welcome to attend this free event.

• April 3rd – On Sunday, April 3rd, the Thief River Falls Concert Association presents “Jive Aces” a band from England. Performance time is 7:30pm at the Lincoln High School Auditorium in Thief River Falls.

• April 3rd – The Mieczkowski Family String Instrument Concert will be held at 12:30pm in the Family Fundamental Church of Warroad, Minnesota. Everyone is welcome to attend.

• April 3rd – Also at the North Dakota Museum of Art, the opening of an exhibition called “Stalking the Snow Leopard.” The event is free and begins at 4:00 pm.

Community Calendar

• Ongoing – The Campbell Public Library of East Grand Forks presents “Northern Exposure”, a display of photography produced by area and regional photographers.

• March 25th and 26th – The stage production “The Flick” will be performed at the Empire Arts Center in downtown Grand Forks. Curtain time is 7:30 pm. More information at 746-5500.

• March 29th – Healthy Living through Art for Veterans starts Tuesday, March 29th at 6:00 pm. The eight week course is designed to assist military veterans in exploring their health and wellness through weekly art projects. Location is the Grand Forks/Altru YMCA in downtown Grand Forks. Information at 775-2854.

• March 31st – Coming to the Fire Hall Theater in downtown Grand Forks, a stage production called “The Norwegians.” Described as a strong, bitter comedy, “The Norwegians” opens Thursday, March 31st and runs through April 10th. Show times each Thursday, Friday and Saturday are 7:30 pm. Sunday matinees begin at 2:00 pm. More information at 746-0847.

• March 31st – The East Grand Forks Campbell Library and “Laughing Girls” present a Poetry Reading at Campbell Library, on Wednesday, March 30th, beginning at 7:00 pm. Poetry Reading will feature poets an “open microphone time” and is free.

• April 3rd – On Sunday, April 3rd, the Thief River Falls Concert Association presents “Jive Aces” a band from England. Performance time is 7:30pm at the Lincoln High School Auditorium in Thief River Falls.

• Friday, March 11th – The “Prairie Stage Trio” will be part of a stage show and dinner at the Heritage School in Karlstad, Minnesota. The pre-show begins at 6:30. Reservations at 218-436-2144. The public is welcome to attend.

• Friday, March 11th through Sunday, March 13th – Women’s History Month will be observed at the Fire Hall Theater in downtown Grand Forks with 12 riveting monologues performed by 7 area women: called Blue Yonder. March 11th and12th at 7:30 pm and Sunday, March 13th at 2:00 pm.

• Saturday, March 12th – The Northern Valley Youth Orchestra Concert will be held at 3:00 pm at the Empire Arts Center in downtown Grand Forks. Three orchestras will present “Something Old, Something New: Hollywood through the Ages.

• Saturday, March 12th – “Spokenword”, a live poetry event will be held at the Guild in downtown Grand Forks – 311 Demers Avenue. The event begins at 8:00 pm.

• Saturday, March 12th – A St. Patrick’s Day parade will be held in downtown Grand Forks. The parade begins at 3:00 pm and runs from Widman’s Candy Shop to North 3rd Street.

• Saturday, March 12th – An artist’s reception will be held at the River Walk Artists Gallery and Gift Shop in downtown East Grand Forks from 3:30 until 5:00 pm. Regional pottery artist Kathy Comstock and regional photographer Ron Woolever will be the featured guests.

• Monday, March 14th – The Campbell Public Library of East Grand Forks presents “Northern Exposer”, a display of photography, taken by area and regional photographers.

• Saturday, March 5th – The Fire Hall Theater will be holding a fundraiser at “The Ember” located at 8 North Third Street in Grand Forks. The theme is “Downton Abbey” and will feature tea sandwiches, scones, clotted cream and a hat fashion show. The event begins at 11:00 am.

• Saturday, March 5th – An Agricultural Art display will be available to public through the weekend at the Alerus Center in Grand Forks. It consists of three antique pieces of farm machinery painted all white and the pieces are illuminated at night.

• Saturday, March 5th – Grand Forks Central High School presents “The Addams Family Musical” at 7:00 pm.

• Sunday, March 6th – The Greater Grand Forks Symphony Orchestra presents their spring concert at the Empire Arts Center in downtown Grand Forks. Performance time this Sunday is 2:00, with a pre-concert talk by the Maestro at 1:30 pm.
