Voyagers National Park and Pipestone National Monument in Minnesota are several of the National Parks discussed. Also in the show: In 1938, Albert Hayes suggested that Minnesota make the north fork of the Roseau River to form an artificial lake. Hayes Lake was born. Jan tells about Hayes Lake State Park, which has nearly 3,000 acres and about 28,000 visitors a year.

Mt. Zion Chruch & Roseau County Women In Military

On this edition, churches with diverse memberships are featured. Mt. Zion Church was formed in 1856 in St. Paul by the Jewish community. The Pilgrim Baptist Church also achieved new membership, consisting of freed slaves.
Also in this show: Letters of inquiry were written to locate women who had served in the military in Roseau county. After much searching, 150 women were located. In March 2010, a luncheon in their honor was given at the Roseau City Center.

Making Maple Syrup & Pelan History

Jim makes a trip to Michigan to make maple syrup with his son. One of oldest agricultural comodities in the U.S., it takes 40 gallons of sap to make 1 gallon of syrup. Also in the show, the history of Pelan, Minnesota: The Olson Stagecoach line was located in Pelan as well as the Half-Way House, which got its name from being located halfway between the mail run from Roseau to Hallock.
