• Friday, January 22nd there’s a Candlelight Ski at Zipple Bay State Park near Baudette in northwest Minnesota, from 5 to 7pm. For more information call 783-6252.
• Friday, January 22nd the Greater Grand Forks Community Theater presents “The Drowsy Chaperone” at the Fire Hall Theater in downtown Grand Forks. Performances on Friday and Saturday, the 22nd and 23rd are at 7:30pm. There’s a Sunday matinee this weekend at 2:00 pm.
• Friday, January 22nd the University of North Dakota’s Chester Fritz Auditorium is the site for a performance of the UND Ensembles. The performance is at 4:00 pm.
• Saturday, January 23rd the North Dakota Museum of Art will have “Family Fun Day” from 10:00 and to 12:00 noon. The two hours of creative art is for children and their parents, grandparents and other care-givers. The event is free of charge.
• Sunday, January 24th the North Dakota Museum of Art – based on the UND campus in Grand Forks, presents the latest in their “Sunday Concerts in the Galleries” series. Performing at 2:00 pm will be “Jupiter Quartet.”
• Tuesday, January 26th the Grand Forks Public Library presents “Science Café”, a learning environment for adults involving the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math. The event begins at 7:00 pm and is free.
• Thursday, January 28th the Thief River Falls Concert Association presents the John Jorgenson Bluegrass Band. Show time is 7:30pm at the Lincoln High School Auditorium in Thief River Falls.
• Monday, February 1st the Athens Boys Choir” will perform at 7p.m. in Kiehle Auditorium at the University of Minnesota, Crookston campus.. Admission is free.
• Thursday, February 4th coming to the Empire Arts Center in downtown Grand Forks, the Tony Award winning musical “Falsettos”, with a first performance on February 4th.

Crookston, MN resident Irene Bertils has received numerous awards from the Northwest Minnesota Arts Council (NWMAC) for her work in painting and drawing. Raised on a farm north of Moorhead, MN, Irene has a heavy emphasis on nature and people in her works of art. She discusses her love of art and a current exhibition of her work at the NWMAC Gallery in East Grand Forks, MN, titled “Retrospective.

o The ongoing renovations to the NDMOA interior.

o Caravanserai: American Voices, which is a week-long music residency/tour of contemporary Muslim-American musicians. The band will be here next week and will do workshops in schools, and one public performance on Saturday, January 23rd, 7 pm at Red River High School in Grand Forks.

o The upcoming NDMOA Benefit Dinner and Silent Auction on January 30th.
