The Thief River Falls Area Community Theater (TRFACT) and current productions of “Lion King Kids” (July 24 – 26) and “The Sound of Music” (August 1-3). All performances begin at 7:00 pm at the Northland Community and Technical College Theater in Thief River Falls.
TRFACT is also conducting a summer training program for aspiring actors called “STAR.” The program curriculum includes improvisation techniques, character development, body movement, subtexts, stage direction and more.

Amanda Shultz of McIntosh, MN received a grant from the NWMAC to purchase an intermediate flute. She has been performing in the region with the District 9 Legion Band, with performances on July 14th and 15th in Mahnomen, MN as that northwest Minnesota town hosts the Minnesota American Legion’s state convention. Amanda also discusses the importance of music in the schools, child development through music and the financial support that the NWMAC provides to individuals and schools in the music field.

Loren Younggren is a photographer in Hallock, MN and serves on the Kittson County Fair Board.

Loren discusses his “art” of photography and the upcoming 2017 Kittson County Fair events….including the “Free Stage” line-up at the fair, which receives funding from the NWMAC.

Faye Auchenpaugh, NWMAC Board of Directors member, says that June is the time that the NWMAC is adding new members to the board. She also speaks to the NWMAC role in promoting arts in northwest Minnesota and her own work in promoting the arts and culture of the region.
