Janet Johnson of Malung, MN currently has an exhibit at the NWMAC River Walk Gallery in East Grand Forks, MN titled “30 Bowls in 30 Days.” Janet is also a recent addition to the NWMAC Board of Directors.

Kevin McKeever is the Principal at Win-E-Mac School in Erskine, MN. Last spring the school hosted Prairie Fire Theater and the elementary school performed Jack & the Beanstalk with a grant from the NWMAC. Kevin discussed that project and other efforts to support the arts in the Win-E-Mac school system.

The NWMAC is helping to produce “Southern Hospitality”, on on-stage presentation by the Middle River (MN) Community Theater during “Goose Fest” days in Middle River. The annual, early October festival draws thousands of people from the Upper Midwest and across the country for the start of goose hunting season. Community Theater Director Candy Gram shares details of the performance and why funding from the NWMAC is so vital to the art and culture of northwest Minnesota.

Cathy Forgit of rural Crookston/Beltrami, MN is a fabric artist who benefited from a grant application to the NWMAC. With NWMAC support she purchased a “warping mill” to help create her artwork. Cathy talks about her love of art and the process of applying for financial aid from the NWMAC.

Jerry Amiot – President of the Polk County (MN) Historical Society – talks about the recently held French Chautauqua Festival near Red Lake Falls, MN plus the upcoming “Pioneer Day” in Crookston, MN on Sunday, September 10th. Pioneer Day is an annual event and details were discussed concerning the events/demonstrations/music that are funded by the NWMAC during Pioneer Day.
