JUNE EVENTS

 1 Tours of Historic Fort Snelling are available throughout the summer, every day. The fort is located in south Minneapolis.

 7 -10 Northwest Minnesota’s annual country music festival “Kick’n Up Kountry” @Wagon Wheel Ridge in Karlstad, MN. Performers include Clay Walker, Chase Bryant and Kane Brown.

 8 A free Bluegrass Jam Session is scheduled at “The Ember” in downtown Grand Forks. The music runs from 7 until 9 pm.

 13 Movies in the Park kicks off their summer season at Lincoln Drive Park in Grand Forks. Showtime is sundown for the movie “Secret Life of Pets.” All movies in this series are free.

 10 -11 2017 “Art on the Red” will be held in downtown Grand Forks in Town Square, the greenway and Cabela’s parking lot in East Grand Forks. Media include ceramics, drawing, glass, jewelry, metal, naturals and painting. Dozens of food vendors will be on hand. The main stage will have live theatre and ethnic dance performances. Live music includes Folk, Bluegrass and Jazz.

 21 -24 The Norman County Fair in Ada, MN. The “Mighty Thomas Carnival” will be on the midway.

 3 Fred Keller – Musician in concert beginning at 2pm @Kittson County Museum in Lake Bronson, MN.

The Northwest Minnesota Arts Council (NWMAC) recently awarded their Art Advocate of the Year Award to Jane Vigness of Climax, MN.
Jane is the public librarian at the Lake Agassiz Regional Library branch in Climax and is active in the Sandhill Historical Society as well as the Association of the French of the North (AFRAN). As an AFRAN board member, Jane helps to organize their Chautauqua & French-Canadian Metis Arts Festival near Red Lake Falls, MN in late August. Jane has written about the event, including AFRANS’s newsletters and an article in their book titled “Treaty at Old Crossing To Invite Enlightened Understanding.

MAY EVENTS
19 “Little Shop of Horrors” continues this weekend at the Fire Hall Theater in downtown Grand Forks. Performance time this Friday and Saturday is 7:30 pm. There’s also a 2:00 pm matinee on Sunday.
20 The 1st Annual “Chocolate Walk” in downtown Nisswa, MN.
20 The Minnesota Opera performs “La Boheme” at the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts in St. Paul. Performance time Saturday is 7:30 pm. A Sunday matinee is scheduled for 2:00 pm.
21 Live Music on the Lawn…. with “The Misadventures “and the 2nd Annual Show ‘n Shine Car Show @Arts on Fifth in Stephen, MN.
21 Anthony Ross, Principal Cello of the Minnesota Orchestra, will be the featured soloist at the Ives Auditorium in Bloomington, MN. Performance time is 3:00 pm.
24 Roseau Elementary School’s Spring Program for Grades 1through 3. Performances are at 10am and 2pm @Roseau School Theater.
27 “Poison & Telsa” will give a concert at the Alerus Center in Grand Forks. More information at 701-792-1420.
