Northland UAS Program Receives Global Hawk Model
Bemidji, MN author Will Weaver wants to encourage more men and boys to read. The classic Winchester rifle on the cover of his new memoir, “The Last Hunter: An American Family Album,” may help him hit his target. Weaver discussed the art of the memoir and the future of publishing with Pioneer 90.1’s Mark Johnson at an appearance at Northland College in Thief River Falls. “Write On,” our series of conversations with Minnesota authors, is supported by the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.

June 8, Appleton, Wisconsin-based alt-rock band Cory Chisel & the Wandering Sons played New York’s Central Park. 11 days later, they played a slightly more intimate venue: the Pennington County Fairgrounds in Thief River Falls, Minnesota. Chisel was influenced by Bob Dylan, and also has family from Dylan territory — in Babbitt and Ely, Minnesota.
Cory Chisel and the Wondering Sons’ album, “Death Won’t Send a Letter,” came out in September 2009 on Black Seal/Sony BMG Music. The band has performed on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, and will appear at this year’s Newport Folk and Glastonbury Festivals.
