• Sunday, February 14th – A Country, Gospel & Old Tyme music jam will be held on Sunday, February 14th, Valentine’s Day, from 2 pm to 5 pm at the Greenbush Community Center in Greenbush, Minnesota.
• Thursday, February 18th – The Confucius Institute at the University of Minnesota Crookston will present an Evening of Chinese New Year Celebration on Thursday, February 18th, at 5 pm in Bede Ballroom at UMC. The event is open to the public and includes a dinner, folk songs, folk dance and other entertainment.
• Sunday, February 21st – The Thief River Falls Concert Association presents “California Dreamin”, Pop/Rock Hits of the 60’s. Showtime is 7:30pm in the Lincoln High School Auditorium in Thief River Falls.
• Saturday, February 13th – The Greater Grand Forks Young Professionals presents the return of the “Frosty Bobber” winter carnival in downtown East Grand Forks and Grand Forks. Events include a Soup-R-Chili Cook-Off, educational tent for children, cardboard sledding, sleigh rides, cocoa and s’more stations and other outdoor winter activities for the entire family. All activities are free with the exception of the ice fishing tournament.
• Friday, February 12th – The stage production “Falsettos” continues this weekend at the Empire Arts Center in downtown Grand Forks. Performance times are Friday and Saturday at 7:30 pm.
Oliver Demers of “Le Vent Du Nord – a French/Canadian group of musicians from Quebec – talks about their tour of the upper Midwest, including a scheduled stop in Thief River Falls, MN in mid-February. Demers shares his thoughts on their music and their role in educating young people about history and culture – through music.
Feeling the sting of Winter, Glen Braget has decided to remedy the winter blahs with an episode full of classic Midwest Rockabilly. Stopping by to warm things up are the Del Rios, Augie Garcia, Curtis & the Galaxies and more.
Glen Braget has cleaned up the 4 seat time machine to take us on a musical trip to sample some of the music that emanating out of the Midwest in the 1960’s. In this hour hear tracks from artists representing Illinois, Kansas, Iowa, Michigan and of course Minnesota.
