Danni Master, Collection Care Specialist at the North Dakota Museum of Art (serving Northwest Minnesota), gives a detailed description of her job/role at the NDMOA in the care and maintenance of works/pieces of art – as it relates to environment, climate and other factors that would either maintain or deteriorate the current state of displayed art work. She also promoted the upcoming concert of a Native American Cellist – plus an upcoming exhibit highlighting artwork from the African country of Ethiopia.

She discusses her teaching responsibilities, philosophy for instruction in the classroom and her work with students involved with the honors society.

An exhibition titled: “Winged Shadows:Life Among Birds” will soon be coming to Northwest Minnesota. Matt Wallace, Director of the NDMOA Rural Arts Initiative, discusses an upcoming exhibition of art work dealing with birds from a non-traditional perspective.

To commemorate the close of the Chinese New Year celebration, the University of Minnesota at Crookston has a full day of events planned – for the Lantern New Year Celebration this Saturday, February 22nd on the UMC campus. Activities begin at 2 pm, to include paper cutting and lantern making, a history of the New Year, Chinese language and writing – and a presentation by the Chinese American Association of Minnesota’s Chinese Dance Theater, performing Saturday evening at 6:30 in Kiehle Auditorium. Tickets for all activities are $15 dollars for adults and $10 dollars for students….this Saturday at the University of Minnesota – Crookston campus.

The Detroit Lakes Community and Cultural Center is presenting “D3” – Dinner, Dance and Dad on Friday, February 21st from 6 until 10 pm at the Historic Holmes Theater in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. More information can be found online at dlccc.org.
The 13th Annual Musical Variety Show will be held Sunday February 23rd at the American Legion Club in Middle River, Minnesota from 1 until 4pm. The musical event includes entertainment by Joyful Noise, the Popple Ridge Pickers, along with Paul Tandberg and Bruce Elseth.

The East Grand Forks/Grand Forks Master Chorale will present a concert – “Passport to Choral Music” – on Friday, February 21st at 8pm at St. Michael’s Church in Grand Forks. Cost for adults $15 dollars, seniors $10 dollars and students $5 dollars.
A theater performance of “Men are from Mars Women are from Venus” will be held this Sunday, February 23rd at the Empire Arts Center in downtown Grand Forks. Performance time is 7:00pm. The comedy is based on the best-selling book by John Gray and covers everything from dating and marriage to other marital situations.

The “Shadow Box”, winner of the Pulitzer and Tony awards, will be performed at the Burtness Theater on the UND campus, Tuesday, February 25th. For show times, call 701-777-2587.

The “Grumpy Old Men” Festival is being held on Saturday, February 22nd in Wabasha, Minnesota – Wabasha is along the Mississippi River near Red Wing. Scheduled is an Ice fishing contest, ice shacks n’ Plaid Parade, cribbage tournament, bingo, minnow races, 6th Annual Grumpy Plunge and more. Grumpy Old Men is a 1993 American romantic comedy film starring Jack Lemmon, Walter Matthau, Ann-Margret, and Burgess Meredith about life and romance in Wabasha.
